Winner : Bird Catcher
My grilfriend and I were strolling down a quiet beach on a perfect sunny mean solar day . That ’s when we saw a bunch of skirt on the ground eating spot of food . Immediately , I had the idea of run into them and making them fly while my girlfriend clicked shots on burst mode . I ruin their tiffin by making them fly away , which I felt sorry for afterwards . Shot with a Sony NEX C3 ( which I buy because of gizmodo ’s good word last twelvemonth ) , 55 - 210 lens @ 117 mm , f/5.6 , ISO 400 , 1/2500 . Oh , and by the way , the birds came back to eat their food later on .

Brooklyn Bowl
Canon 5DMarkIII Driving through Brooklyn for a midsummer show at Brooklyn Bowl , I found myself among all of these men in fur hats on what was indeed , a very raging sidereal day . Just a few blocks beyond the Orthodox region , I find the kid in the photo savour a city summer as only those in this city can – the contrast between the button up , foresighted coat and fur lid to the exemption of letting a fire hydrant loose was very evident , and I felt a heavy tactile sensation of stand-in as I leave behind the one orbit and drove into the other .

Daytona Beach
Apple iPhone 5 ( ios7beta1 ) f/2.4 1/4184sec ISO-50 I ’m on vacation in Daytona Beach , FL – it ’s hard to quash summer here . Being on the top flooring of my hotel offer a unique vantage point when taking picture , but the window of my room is really muddied and it ’s unmanageable to fritter around all the dirt and grime . It was annoying at first but I finish up using the gunk on the windowpane as a filter and got some really neat shots of the sun that made it take care especially furious . The picture I ’m submitting has only been cropped , no other adjustments . The ordered series is discernible when you see the multitude walking on the beach .

Warm and readable water , Southern California does n’t get much better than that during the summer .

Everyone Else Had The Same Idea
I promise my wife we ’d go to the beach on Sunday and it front like everyone else had the same musical theme and brought their whole family . It was getting cloud-covered and we were still look for parking . It was n’t looking good and we were quick to go home . I decided to try a less democratic spot , it had a parking pile too . Seven dollars poor , we rushed towards the sand to seek to catch the sun that was peek through the fog . I got my photographic camera gear quick to appropriate the moment and I felt all eyes were on me . I imagined furious beau , husbands and parents all ganging up on me for taking photos of their do it ones if even inadvertently . So I did what I could and used my wife as a manikin but in a way I would n’t get raging at myself either . I used our beach chair to block out unknown in the screen background and focused on the air mile on the back of her brightly color in two-piece to get a tightly cropped photo . I got all the bright colors , a beach hot seat , a bikini , a intemperately - earned tan , sand and even a pair of sunglasses without the stress of getting beat up ! I was ready for more but it got cloud-covered again so we went home . Summer is such a tease . preferences : Canon 7D , EF 50 mm f/1.8 II @ f/11 1/100 iso100

Koi
Canon 5D Mark II f/4 ISO100 8 - 15 millimetre fisheye f/4L @15 mm Open for Summer How to justify this “ spring”-like photo as a summer gaining control ? Well , water lilies flower in full sunlight and close up as soon as the shade hits them . Um … I guess that ’s it . My pa ’s koi pond is cover in lily pad , and this flower , in particular , is quite beautiful . I had to get exceedingly close with my fisheye … risked falling in to get the perspective . Though , it would ’ve feel nice since it was about 115 degree in Visalia , CA .
