Yeah , it ’s Tuesday and Gizmodo is finally back in the saddle again . The eggnog hangover is cured , the potato pancake oil is almost hot , and it ’s time to get back to the nitty - granulose — voting for the Best Gizmo of the Year .
Today is the first in a serial publication of elimination rounds to determine the Best of Gizmodo 2005 . Here ’s how it will work : Each day the previous vote will be clear from the slate and a newfangled pate will begin for the gadgets that get to stay on the island . Two are already gone , two more will be binge in a gunny sack and thrown in the river tomorrow . On Thursday just one item will be disappeared . And that ’s when it gets fun , because on Friday for the last Thunderdome battle you will submit an east - mail reference with the balloting , and that will go into a final drawing off for a $ 500 talent certificate . Where to ? Maybe Circuit City , but it ’s still TBD ( publish if you have hint ) . Remember , the only way to get ahead is to vote on Friday in the final round .
But back to the occupation at hand , which is beseech adieu to the Motorola RAZR and Apple Powerbook . Maybe it was the RAZR ’s stinky keypad , or its ill-smelling - er UI — either way of life , we jazz to watch you walk aside . And the matte finish is off the Apple Powerbook , which got cut earlier than anyone predicted . But a mediocre 7 % of the votes means … buh - au revoir .
