Fry ’s Electronics , a longtime computer retail chain headquartered on the west coast , will close up its doors for good , according to a new news report from television stationKRON 4 in San Francisco . The write up seems to confirms rumors from Twitter that started appearing lateTuesdayclaiming Fry ’s would be closed permanently .
The Fry ’s website currently look normal , but is carry to admit an announcement about the lasting settlement sometime on Wednesday , consort to KRON 4 .
Fry ’s was founded in the Bay Area in 1985 and currently has 14 stores in California , eight in Texas , two in Arizona , and single locations in Georgia , Illinois , Indiana , Nevada , Oregon , and Washington state . Several other placement were closed over the preceding few years .

During the nineties , Fry ’s became known for its weird interior decorate as much as for its computers . The San Jose location has a Mayan topic , while theBurbanklocation ( seen above ) is deck out in midcentury sci - fi , consummate with a flying saucer made to look like it had crashed into the entrance .

Fry ’s stores are also incredibly large compared with other computer and electronics stores that emerged from the eighties and XC . And unlike more “ mainstream ” retailers like Best Buy , Fry ’s sold a wide choice of computer component that permit hobbyists to foregather their own machines .
There have n’t been any reliable reports about why Fry ’s might be closing across the country , but the party has seen a bit of individual shop close over late years , including theAnaheim , Californialocation , which was close down in March of 2020 .
