Superhero TV season has come and go , which signify there ’s yet another season under the belts of Supergirl , Flash , Arrow , and legend of Tomorrow . Over the last year of television set some of these shows defied expectations , and some lost their means — but there ’s always room for the thing we want to see them do next .
Supergirl
Mon - El ultimately ended up being one of the biggest problems of Supergirl ’s second season . The show wildly refocus itself around Kara and Mon - El ’s will - they - won’t - they - now - how - do - we - unwrap - them - up nonsense way too much this part season , and as alarmingly magnetic both Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood are on concealment together , their kinship ultimately came at the cost of drop solid time with Kara as a character and observe her develop . alternatively , we saw Mon - Elbasically become a Gary Stuwhile Kara endure by .

The slow burn in season one of her emergence as a superhero and in her personal life matte like it almost totally dissipated in time of year two to focalise on Mon - El . With him out of the way of life , the show needs to maltreat back on diversify its cast of reference and remember that ultimately the show is about Kara ’s journey and evolution , rather than assay to become Supergirl and Friends .
In some ways , the fact that Supergirl does n’t seek to bring in in serial - long foes sets it apart from its fellow CW / DC usher , and the few endeavour its made to bring in big nefarious force have fall a bit matt ( recall when Non was a thing on this serial publication ? ) It could do with interweaving its villains - of - the - week with a character that can play as a tangible , tenacious enemy to Kara . Arrow
The Arrowcave got way too busy in season five . Wild Dog , Artemis , Mr. Terrific , and Ragman jostle for the limelight to the gunpoint that most characters ended up feeling like they got short shrift , especially with the show truly pass prison term with Diggle and Felicity over the fresh recruit . With Evelyn a double-dealer and Rory out of action , there ’s already been some slice , but honestly , Curtis could probably do with a work shift from being a not - great - vigilante back to being Felicity ’s supporting .
We know Rene and Dinah are being upgrade to unconstipated persona for the next season , so Wild Dog , Black Canary , and Green Arrow seem like a much more reasonably sized team .
One matter Arrow has not really touched on from the source material is Oliver Queen ’s cryptical passion for activism and social justice . These belief have long driven Ollie ’s sense of valiancy in the cartoon strip ( and dally a crucial part in the character ’s current Rebirth series ) , but TV ’s Ollie rarely dabble in fight for the citizenry as opposed to just contend bad guy . Plus , composition of protest , civil noncompliance , and grassroots activism are kind of hot topics right now , so it ’d be a great direction to honor the comics loop of the character reference and do something that feels timely .
When Arrow recede its way in season four , the cast and crew were fast to blame the introduction of mystic elements through the arrival of Damien Darhk rather than anything else , and then scurried back to a more grounded , pre - Flash variant of the show to reassure disappointed fans . But as much as the CW might desperately want him to be , Green Arrow is no brood Dark Knight . He ’s the form of character that can perfectly equilibrize naturalistic villains like mobster and corrupt functionary with the wacky world of supervillains and space aliens . Arrow does n’t need to go Legends of Tomorrow on itself , but it ’d be skillful to see it loosen up a bit again . have that boxing glove arrow fly free !
Legends of Tomorrow
Of all the DC / CW shows , fable of Tomorrow belike has the least to improve on , because season twoalready did so much of the hard workin reforging the show as the wacky , tops fun corner of the this TV universe . So time of year three , give or take a few pinch , needs to pretty much keep on keep open on : embrace the fact that these characters have no right being anywhere near the control of a highly advanced time - traveling spaceship , and then have them have access code anyway . It is so much fun to see these guys try , screw up , and then grow as characters , but still be hilariously goofy in the process .
One of the hard points of Legends ’ second serial publication was its sheer earnestness in bring us to a raw metre period and new fix every episode . I mean , when you ’re a clock time travel show , you might as well leap on the narrative chance of being anywhere and any time every week , right-hand ? The climax of season two might have pay us the mess - up , mashed - up , sentence - neuter Los Angeles for the Legends to play with , but if the show can keep on its toes when it comes to configurations in time of year three beyond that , it ’ll be keen .
Rip Hunter is a pissed blanket in human form , and the moment Legends dumped him was the moment time of year two really got fun , as we watched a mixed crew of screw - ups try their hand at becoming the legend they were supposed to be . alas , even though time of year two end with Rip out of the way again , we sleep together he ’s coming back next season — which is ok , if only so the show can dump him ( again ) and get back to focus on Sara lead the team .

The Flash

Three seasons of The Flash , three arch over villainous speedsters with links to Barry and the people he ’s close with , three unsound guys that Barry Allen has to beat by being struggling to be faster than them . For a guy who opens almost every instalment with “ My name is Barry Allen , I ’m the firm man alive ! ” that is objectively not the case most of the time . It ’s just wearisome to seethe same formula used over and over again , and season three ’s reveal that big speculative Savitar was a future , emo incarnation of Barry is the straw that break the pep pill - camel ’s back .
Admittedly , season four seems to be doing something new , dropping big hint that psychic comics villain the Thinker will be the big threat of the season . But hey , time of year three made it look like Dr. Alchemy would be the overarching threat , and we saw what happened with that , right ?
Or mayhap the show should just not have a bad badness for a while ? The more Flash has rooted itself in extended arcs , the less fun it is ( Flashpoint last season , case in point ) , so pass time aside from building up one big threat to bring the show back to a more villain - of - the - hebdomad kind of matter for a while would be very welcome . potpourri is the spice of living and all that — but also , caption rise just how much play you’re able to have in flipping the script repeatedly last season . There ’s no reason The Flash could n’t do the same .
Look , I get it . Part and parcel of a CW dramatic play show is interminable quixotic tensity , and the thought of a happy , unchanging lead couple is almost too much for your intermediate CW executive to bear . But the harebrained length Flash has gone through to keep Iris and Barry asunder from each other are becoming diss . That the show basically die the duo up for a few sequence last seasonjust so the Supergirl crossover could have a songand scene where they get back together was high-risk enough , but thecontrivance of season three ’s cliffhanger endingseparating the two yet again more was just deadening . Let Barry and Iris get married , and let them live them in domesticated bliss for a bit . There are plenty of other ways for this show to stir up play than by go back to that well again .
