Would it be aGeorge R.R. Martin adaptationif there were n’t multiple people vying for mastery ? As the first Game of Thrones spinoff , House of the Dragon , enjoyssome massive early season winner , one of the show ’s co - creator , executive producer and directors , Miguel Sapochnik , is leaving .
“ Working within the Thrones world for the past few years has been an honor and a privilege , especially spend the last two with the awe-inspiring plaster cast and crew of House of the Dragon , ” Sapochnik said in a financial statement obtain by theHollywood Reporter . “ I am so gallant of what we accomplished with season one and overjoyed by the enthusiastic response of our viewers . It was incredibly baffling to make up one’s mind to move on , but I have sex that it is the right choice for me , personally and professionally . ”
Sapochnik has a first - look deal with HBO so he ’ll still work with the company and stay on , in name , as an executive manufacturer on the show . His co - creator , Ryan Condal , will also stay on in that role with Sapochnik ’s expansion slot as executive manufacturer and managing director being taken over by Alan Taylor . Taylor was a major director on Game of Thrones and go on to do multiple celluloid such as Thor : The Dark World andTerminator Genisys .

“ I am profoundly comforted to know that Alan will be joining the series , ” Sapochnik continues . “ He ’s someone I ’ve know and abide by for a long time , and I consider this precious series could not be in safer hands . I am so glad to stay a part of the HBO and House of the Dragon family and , of course , I wish Ryan and his team success and all the best with time of year two and beyond . ”
That ’s correct . In case you miss it , even before the second episode aired , HBOrenewed House of the Dragon for time of year twoand Taylor will be a major player in that . “ It ’s a pleasance and an honor to be back at HBO , immerse myself in the world of the Targaryens , I look forward to process tight with Ryan as House of the Dragon grow into its second time of year , ” Taylor pronounce . “ Ryan , Miguel , and George have launched an over-the-top storey , in a rich and fascinating reality . Returning to Westeros will be a huge undertaking and I ’m look forward to the challenge . ”
Continuing the success of the show will certainly be a challenge — but if the first two episode are any indicant , everyone involve is up to that challenge . House of the Dragon atmosphere Sunday nights on HBO .
