Matthew Broderickand his sonJames Wilkieare making their onscreen debut!

In PEOPLE’s exclusive first look at the Feb. 20 episode ofElsbeth, Broderick and his 22-year-old son, whom he shares with wifeSarah Jessica Parker, will appear on camera together for the very first time.

According to the official logline, the episode, titled “Foiled Again,” will see Elsbeth (Carrie Preston) “investigating the mysterious death of a college admissions officer” when she finds herself “fencing with Lawrence Grey (Broderick), an independent educational consultant who promises an Ivy League future to high-paying clients and their painfully average kids.”

“The case also causes Elsbeth and Teddy to question how well she prepared him for the real world,” the synposis continues.

While his father takes on the role of Lawrence, James is slated to play Carl — a top “success trainer” at his company, Outmatch Educational Consulting.

“I was so proud and happy to work with my son James,” Broderick, 62, tells PEOPLE of the experience. “Working with everyone on Elsbeth was a pleasure and I’m excited for the episode to come out.”

While speaking toEntertainment Tonightat the Father of the Year Gala in 2023, Broderick confessed that being a father to James and his twin daughters Tabitha and Marion with his wifeParkerremains his favorite role to date.

“It just happens, you know?” he said of parenting. “You don’t really know how to do it, and then suddenly you’re a dad. But I’m very happy that that happened.”
