Tom is good at keeping secrets from her
When Tom appeared onThe Masked Singeras the Tacoin season 3, he had to keep it a secret from his family — but it wasn’t the first time he kept something from Lois.
In an interview onMario Lopez’s podcast,On With Mario Lopez, in December 2020, Tom revealed that when Lois was expecting their first daughter, he didn’t tell her the sex for nearly all of the pregnancy.
“The doctor pulled me aside, told me you’re having a girl. Lois, at that point, wanted to be surprised, so for six months, I kept the secret,” he said.
“There was one time I almost accidentally put a female pronoun out there,” he added before telling a story about how he “deviously” tricked Lois into thinking they were having a boy afterward.
“I was hosting a daily live talk show in Boston at the time … one of the shows was ‘circumcision: pro or con?’ and I brought home the material,” Tom recalled, laughing.

Tom has credited his wife for helping him get into transcendental meditation, which he’s been practicing for 40 years. The technique involves sitting down with closed eyes for 20 minutes twice a day and repeating a word or phrase to focus on, perCleveland Clinic. Other celebrities, likeGisele Bündchen, have spoken about practicing it, too.
In an interview onGilbert Gottfried’sAmazing Colossalpodcast in July 2017, Tom opened up about having anger management problems, admitting that he decided to try meditation when Lois told him he needed to get help.
“There were a few apartment walls in my single days that had holes in the sheet rock that I had punched through,” he said, speaking about how his anger manifested physically. “The temper thing was always directed at inanimate objects or myself."
The father of two revealed that his wife’s advice came early on in their romance. “There was one time we were out and then something happened and I just put my fist into the door of the car … And she wisely said, ‘If we’re going to have a relationship, that has to stop,’ ” he recalled.
Tom said he signed up for a transcendental meditation course the next day. “It does make you happier. It does make you better able to assess things as they’re happening so as to not fly off the handle,” he explained. “It’s the belief that I can be the master of how I react to any situation.”
When he appeared onThe Masked Singer, he also mentioned Lois' influence on him as a clue. “She made me the man I am today, a softer taco filled with love and blessed with a rich career. I can’t even believe it’s real,” Tom said, referencing his taco costume.

“The lovely thing about having edibles at night, we watched all 14 seasons [ofMurdoch Mysteries] and then we went back and started season 1 again … we didn’t remember who the killer was, it was like watching them new, all over again,” he added, making Saget laugh.
She supports him through tough times
When Tom’s father died in October 2015, it was Lois who called him to break the bad news while he was on the set ofDancing with the Stars.
“I got a call in the dressing room from my wife,” he toldCloser Weekly.
Despite the tragedy, Tom insisted they didn’t cancel the dress rehearsal or show for that evening, even though he said one of the producers suggested it.
